Korea House, Santa Clara

Korea House, Santa Clara
October 2007

Hmmmm.  When on the hunt for food that approximates eating at a casual café in Seoul, Korea House is a candidate.  The Korea House is located on a stretch of El Camino near some tattoo parlors, including the famed Da Wei & Lily (why I know this is another story…) and has a spartan décor and rushed service.  But, the HUGE selection of accompaniments that come with each meal are a thing to behold.  I counted a dozen different types of kimchi and small sides, and all were terrific.  We ordered the bulgolgi, which is thinly sliced barbecued beef (it was ok) and fried shrimp (which was also just ok).   The bibimbap on the other hand, which is a hot clay bowl filled with rice, beef, vegetables, fried egg and hot sauce was fabulous!  I have a routine I follow when traveling to Korea – I arrive at my nice five star hotel in downtown Seoul and as soon as I’m in the room, I order Korean beer and bibimbap.  Korea House brought back some satisfying memories!
