Ducey’s at Bass Lake, CA

May 2007

Hmmmm.  Ever been to a restaurant where everyone else is dressed up a bit more than you are, and appears to think the food is a bit better than you do?  Ducey’s is like that.  Located at the Pines Resort at Bass Lake near Yosemite, it’s the only “sit down” restaurant within 10 or 15 miles of the resort.  We go to Bass Lake for Memorial Day every year, and Ducey’s is our break from grillin’.  The steaks ore ok, not great, but nothing to complain about.  The fish is somewhat less good than that, and the pastas and other items on the menu begin to show the result of heavy handed use of butter, cream and salt to make something taste “better” without spending much effort to coax the food into tasting good.  The kids like it and it does provide a break from grillin’.  But I wonder each time, did I really need the break or should I have tried harder with the Weber?
